The meteoric success of the young Uzbekistan pianist Behzod Abduraimov is no surprise to those who have heard him play. After witnessing a dazzling, heart-stopping performance of Prokofiev’s Sonata No 6 with Abduraimov ‘hurling fistfuls of notes around’, one critic said, ‘Lang Lang … look out!’

Behzod Abduraimov received thunderous applause and a standing ovation at his 2016 BBC Proms debut after an electrifying performance of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No 3 with the Munich Philharmonic under Valery Gergiev. In 2015 Abduraimov toured America with Maestro Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra, performing Prokofiev’s fearsomely difficult third piano concerto to great acclaim at Carnegie Hall.

His busy concert schedule sees him performing with many of the world’s top orchestras and conductors, giving recitals worldwide including at the Wigmore and Carnegie Halls and performing at prestigious festivals such as the Verbier.
