Piers LANE

Sunday, 17th November 3pm, Concert Hall QPAC

Piers Lane’s Chopin by Candlelight recital will evoke the intimate atmosphere of the Parisian salons of the 19th century. In a beautiful candlelit stage setting Piers will perform some of Chopin’s greatest works, including the epic G minor Ballade called ‘the Odyssey of Chopin’s soul’. Piers has a special affinity for Chopin, capturing the poetic fervour, elegance and grace of his music and his indomitable spirit.

The first half of the program includes Brahms’s lovely Four Piano Pieces and Schubert’s mighty ‘Wanderer Fantasy’, a work both technically challenging and surpassingly beautiful.

Piers Lane’s busy international career sees him performing regularly at the BBC Proms, giving recitals worldwide and performing with leading orchestras and conductors. He is the Artistic Director of the Sydney International Piano Competition.
