Monday, 4th October 3pm (Public Holiday), Conservatorium Theatre South Bank

London-based Australian pianist Jayson Gillham has emerged as one of the finest pianists of his generation. He has given numerous recitals at the Wigmore Hall and performed with leading conductors and orchestras including the London Philharmonic, Hallé Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, and the major Australian orchestras. Jayson is an exclusive ABC Classics recording artist.

At the heart of this glorious all-Chopin recital are the magnificent Op 10 and Op 25 Etudes. Some are exquisite arias for cantabile playing and others, such as the Op 10 No 12 Etude universally called the ‘Revolutionary’ Etude conjures up an image of Zeus hurling thunderbolts at the world. The Op 25 Etudes include the glorious ‘Aeolian Harp’ Etude and the beautiful ‘Winter Wind’ Etude. The recital ends with one of the world’s most famous pieces, Chopin’s Polonaise in A flat major, a tour de force often called the ‘Heroic’ Polonaise.
